Annamacharya Goverment College of Music and Dance was established on 31st December 1996.
Following are the principals and their tenure in this college.
- Smt L. Vijayalakshmi, first principal, worked upto 3rd July 2002. She is a Bharatanatyam dancer and disciple of Sri T.K. Narayana and Dr. Uma Ramarao. She has trained numerous students in Bharatanatyam.
- Smt N. Suvarnalatha, worked upto 7th February 2004. She is a Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer and disciple of Sri Vedantam Jagannatha Sarma and Natyaguru Sri Adyar K. Lakshman. She has also trained numerous students in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi.
- Sri Ch. Sreeramachendra Murthy, worked upto 5th September 2005. He is a Hindustani vocalist of Gwalior Gharana and disciple of his father Pandit Sri Ch. Bheema shanker Rao, who was the greatest Hindustani vocalist in united Andhra Pradesh.
- Smt N. Suvarnalatha returned as the principal and worked upto 31st July 2007. She retired thereafter.
- Sri D. Seetharamaiah, worked as principal (F.A.C) upto 5th November 2007. He is a Veena vidwan and disciple of his mother Smt D.V. Seshamma. He is AIR and Doordarshan artist. He has given many concerts in India and abroad. He has performed in presence of the Honorable President of India at New Delhi. He is also the Asthana Vidwan of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Kanchi, Tamilnadu. He has trained many students in his tenure.
- Sri Ch. Sreeramachendra Murthy, returned as principal and worked upto 29th October 2011.
- Currently, the incumbent principal is S.V. Ramana Murthy. He has been working as principal in this college since 31st October 2011. He is a violinist and a disciple of his grandfather Sri Sistla Rajasekharam, who was one and only seven stringed violin artist. He is a performing artist and has been giving various solo violin concerts and has been accompanying various vocalists in concerts across the state. He is also the Asthana Vidwan of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Kanchi, Tamilnadu.
