Milestones of the college

From its inceptive days as a branch of Ramkoti college in late 1995 to this day, the college has seen many important turning points with respect to administration, staff, awards, etc.

Initially, when the college remained as a branch under the Ramkoti college, due to the interest and solicitation of the students from Old city and the public, it was able to achieve the stature of an independent institution, in December 1996.
The college was shifted into the vacant building of Quli Qutub Shah-e stadium, in July 2002.
Later in 2006, the college was named as Annamacharya Government Music and Dance College.
In the year 2008, as a part of sri Annamacharya’s 600th jayanthi utsavam, staff with around 70 students participated in the event which was held at Tallapaka the birth place of sri annamacharya.

In the year of 2015 GORTHY ESHWARA TRUST announced to give Rs.5000/- cash prize as appreciation to those who have secured the highest marks in diploma examination in all disciplines, conducted by the Telugu university.
In the academic year 2015-2016, Hindustani vocalist Smt Meera Kamble was presented the Best Teacher Award by the Dept. Of Language and Culture, Government of Telangana.

It was a very great task to shift the college to present appropriate residential area. Students used to suffer to come to college as it was once located in commercial area but it was shifted to an area comfortable for the students to come and learn music and dance. In October 2016, the college was shifted to a private building in Gudimalkapur.

The Government of Telangana recognised Perini Dance as Official Dance of the State. A contract instructor post was created for Perini dance and a syllabus was drafted and introduced in the college.

Perini Dance:  Perini Shivatandavam (Perini Śivatandavam) or Perini Thandavam  is an ancient dance form from Telangana which has been revived in recent times. It originated and prospered in Telangana during the Kakatiya dynasty. Perini is performed by males and it is believed that in ancient times this was performed before the soldiers set to war. Nataraja Ramakrishna was the person who revived this art form recently.Perini Dance form was developed at the time of Ganapathi deva, the king of Kakatiya Empire.

We are yet to set many more such prominent milestones while nurturing the Indian art forms.
